All the kids from our district knew to avoid him, he was never invited out to any functions because he would always find a way to physically hurt someone to make himself feel better. In the end he got a Stanley Knife across his throat and died. I recall when it happened However his mother was on all the local news after his inevitable murder saying how he was a good boy who'd never been in any real trouble. Which considering his numerous suspensions, expulsions, monthly visits to the Children's Panel and the like, was just blinkeredness.

Not others only mind you. My uncle was a violent murderous theiving perverse cunt who spent most of his adult life in prison before he had the decency, finally, to kill himself the day after my grandmother died.No matter what he did, to his siblings or others, my grandparents were always trying to tell us all that he was really "a good boy". He wasn't, most of us rarely are, though we all love to tell ourselves and our kids such.

Dunnit, tho? But you try that these days and you're subject to lawsuits out the ass from those angry parents looking to make a quick million or ten out of it.

He said to offer up the other cheek to be smitten. You did, and it was.

For once I'd say he wasn't lying.
And he never said you'd like the results. :hehe:

Did you ever see the Ben Kingsley Ghandi movie?

There's a scene where he explains his sense of that passage, and how it relates to the courage involved in peaceful resistance. You get smacked, you turn your cheek and get smacked again. You know you will get hurt, but you won't give in, or hit back.

That moment stuck with me.

It's a principle held by Ghandi, Jesus, Martin Luther King... A great way to get killed I'd say.

But you'll be remembered just like Jesus, Dr. King, Gandhi and Jonathan Freeman Smith from Omaha, Nebraska.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

Another story from the same daughter, but it was at school. Some boy kept making fun of her and her hair, saying it looks like pussy hair and one day she just snapped and gave him a kung fu kick in the face. I was called to the principles office and I wanted the whole explanation because I knew my daughter was not an instigator, but she wasn't going to take shit from nobody. She was suspended, but the boy who bullied her was not. I complained that he should be suspended as well.

Sounds like the answer to Mai's question is "yes".

I guess you're right. She learned from me not to take shit from stupid bastards that have nothing else to do but bully others.

However, when I was in Croatia, I was the one always standing up for the ones who were shunned by other kids. Some because they were sooo poor, some becaue they had some illness, etc.....If anyone would ever say anything to them, I'd step in and call it out on them.

It seems that sometimes you just have to get down to their level in order to make them understand. They will never understand by talking or reason.

The trick sometimes is not to react immediately but choose the time when it's going to make a point not soon forgotten

Did it strike you as odd at all that your daughter did not report the ongoing bullying to you before she kicked the kid the face?

No it didn't. Maybe because I was raised that way too. I never told my parents of any problems I had. I was expected to learn to deal with it myself, from school age on. Maybe it's difference in culture. Probably is. Don't know.

Besides if she had told me about it, I would have to tell the principle, the principle would call his mother and chat chat chat, later on, it would happen again, maybe even in a worse way, with a group of them, for telling mom like a coward.

Hmmmm....I don't want the fruit of my frankly rather attractive and overactive loins to be pushovers but I don't really want them to ever kick anyone in the face, either.

If your daughter was being constantly taunted by some bully at school and told you about it and you went to the school to complain, a little punishment was done, but then it continued, and even worse than before. What would you do as a father?

Probably as a father, you'd want to go to the bully's house and talk to the parent. And what if the parent told you to "fuck off".
You'd kind of angry, wouldn't you. If at that time you decide to punch the father out, you would end up in jail.
When my daughter defended herself against bullying, she only got 1 wk suspension.
Which is better?

I got bullied a lot in school, pretty much every day but I never retaliated and just ignored it. I didn't care what they said about me or to me, or if they took my stuff. However if anyone bullied my friends or anyone else, I would step in and defend the person being bullied.
I'm wild just like a rock, a stone, a tree
And I'm free, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I flow, just like a brook, a stream, the rain
And I fly, just like a bird up in the sky
And I'll surely die, just like a flower plucked
And dragged away and thrown away
And then one day it turns to clay
It blows away, it finds a ray, it finds its way
And there it lays until the rain and sun
Then I breathe, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I grow, just like a baby breastfeeding
And it's beautiful, that's life

I would continue to complain to the school and encourage the mini Huxleys to comport themselves in a civilised fashion. I was bullied plenty at school. I never attacked anybody, physically. I don't think that avenue is a good thing to encourage.
