When I was at university, forty years ago, I was in a tutorial group of three.
The guy who was by far the brightest was so obsessed with trains, that he traveled the country by train every weekend, with a notebook, noting trains, carriages, and anything else train related.
If you reeled off any number up to six figures, he could tell you what piece of train hardware that referred to, and prove it.
He was WAY ahead of me and the other guy, in understanding our tutor.

But he failed his first year exams and left. He just hadn't done any work at all. He was just so obsessed with trains.
