I read her blog she sounds like a delightful young lady. I find all this school dinner thing weird you either had a packed lunch or you went to a canteen where you could get whatever you wanted i.e pies pasties sandwiches etc or whatever they had going on special and with not a tray in sight.

Sad to say Jim, in some schools in poorer areas if kids didn't get lunch, many of which are free, they wouldn't get a decent meal at all. Some schools have even introduced 'breakfast clubs'. Some of our inner cities are shamefully poor. Not a side of the country that is too visible for the most part.

Reminds of when I was 8... I started the year eating at the canteen... after a few months of that crap I had to ask my mom to pack me lunches because I couldn't take it any more.
