I'd rather we build the Enterprise.

Or ever. Well, you ciuld send some mission out and eventually...10 000 generations?...they would get somewhere. But the planet would already have life. I'm thinking you'd have to make a ship that is a mini-planet, with people living for many generations until they reached the next habitable environment. Unless there are some advances in cryogenics that enable crew and passengers to be revived on demand...Tero wrote:Or ever. Re: One Way Mars Mission Powered By Advertising
So, would you want to spend your entire life in a skyscraper in Louisiana? You'd never get to go outside, you'd have no future, no expansion, unless you were the last generation on the ship. And there would be the problem of mission drift. How long before "the goal" becomes to keep the panels shiny rather than get to another star.FBM wrote:This is different from the current situation...how?Gawdzilla wrote:The disposable nature of generation after generation of humans.FBM wrote:Why?Gawdzilla wrote:The idea of "generation ships" sickens me.We all bite the dust one way or another, in one place or another...

Re: One Way Mars Mission Powered By Advertising
If I could spend the second half of my life gazing upon views of the stars that no human has seen before, I'd put up with the rest. That's expansion, in my book. I may not make it to the next habitable ecosystem, but I'd be helping send others to it. Fine with me. I've only got a short time left, anyway.Gawdzilla wrote:So, would you want to spend your entire life in a skyscraper in Louisiana?
