Well, in the father/daughter case, a rape (actual or statutory) would have been the default point of view. In this case, she seduced him, meaning he was not subjected to violence or threats, and was a willing participant... so the question of whether he is above the age of consent (not that it concerns many hormone laden young males offered an opportunity for sex), and of his having been able to refuse, had he been of a mind to do so, seems more important.

I don't know about Michigan, but in Canada it would be constituted as rape as it is an abuse of a position of trust. Consent doesn't enter into it.

Just rumor. But, I think there are stats on incest in general. As I recall, Japan and Holland, for some reason, were way up there in terms of the rate of incest. I think I recall something like 1 in 7 Dutch having engaged in an extended incestuous affair.

I also recall that the more repressive a society, they find higher instances of mother son incest for some reason. I am only going by recollection here, so somebody may do the googles and see what comes out of it.

Again, I may be speaking through the rear, but If I understand correctly, the idea is that if let to do it himself, the boy will spend A LOT more time engaged in such activities than is desirable, at the expense of his studies.
