Despite the trailer looking shit and only the first two alien films being any good, the second hardly at that.

I didn't care much for "Alien". The cinematography was all Ripley.

Anyway, that is a fantastic trailer. Much better than the three automated Trailer generators, they've been using for the last decade, though it has to be said seeing the highlights of a shit movie is much more efficient than actually going to see it.

Alien is a great example of 'don't show the monster very much' as a way to create tension. They inadvertently stumbled into the same vibe with Jaws because Bruce the mechanical shark malfunctioned too much.

The trailer contained the only special effect bits of note. The rest is predictable and formalaic with characters being killed one by one. They save the best view of the alien until the final scenes and no one gets out alive, with only one facehugger like it's just been invented.... :smoke:
