Maybe we can keep this thread populated with interesting things to spot in the sky...

  • TRANSIT OF VENUS. http://www.transitofvenus.org/

    (Venus tries vainly to eclipse the sun, but appears as a little dot on the solar disc instead. You will be dead the next time this happens (in 2117 and 2125).)

I'm working hard to master my gear in tme for the Venus transit. :ab:

We've also got a partial lunar eclipse on 6/4. I figured out the angles today and discovered that I'll be able to see it from my rooftop. No need to drive to the east coast and back this time. (Same for the transit of Venus.)

Looks like those are the biggies until the Perseids in August.
