I watch TV shows on Netflix/DVD/Download when I've heard they are worth watching. I have watched many entire series that way, and have roped Pappa into doing the same thing. I don't watch reality shows except when Felix is watching them and I'm in the room (he seems to like Supernanny). When I wasn't working and I felt like watching something during the day I stuck with Cooking shows, which are my one reality weakness (Top Chef and Chopped being my favorites). Oh, and Ru Paul's Drag Race when I was in the states. None of this makes me very in touch with what's hip

Oh yeah.... I forgot about the 6 series of Dexter, 3 series of Deadwood and 4 series of Madmen... it doesn't really seem like TV when you download them and watch the whole lot back-to-back.

We just watched Season 4 of Samcro.

No commercials FTW.

Further proof, if it was needed. I have no idea who any of those people are.

Getting back in touch. Lately I've resumed listening (Yes, listening. Radio. Remember radio?) to the excellent news and current affairs programs broadcast by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. It's Australia's best radio network, and it's publicly funded.

Several people I know are currently into something called "towie", which seemingly is about a bunch of tossers who've suffered the terrible misfortune of being born on the wrong side of the Thames.
I've yet to find a reason I should give a fuck.

Other than House (series finale tomorrow!

) and the occassional cute puppy or kitten show on Animal Planet, I don't watch anything.
I guess I am out of touch though. I have no idea who any of the new bands or singers are, I haven't listened to the radio in years, and I haven't seen any new movies.

+1.
Ever since I stopped watching TV I find I'm much happier.
Plus, mind too filled up with internet garbage and forums and memes to have any room for other crap.

I don't have cable or satellite. Netflix is enough for my son to want the TV on ALL the time. I relish having it switched off.

If you don't let the babble box hypnotize you there's no problem with it. Drinking moderation, having an occasional doobie, cranking up for a weekend, all things in moderation.

Whenever
we I travel somewhere, I pull the TV, stereo and computer plugs out. The TV has not been reconnected since I have returned from New Zealand a bit over a month ago even though I have bought about 15 DVDs since then.

I am only moderately in touch, at best.
I don't have netflix (for various reasons) and I don't go to the movies, so I don't see new films all that often-- which I'd like to change (I like movies.)
And I know nothing about the music of the day...
