Local papers say we'll (Seoul) get to see about 80% blockage, but NorCal and other parts of the US West will get to see the annular. I'm trying to figure out how to do solar with my 3.5" telescope, but it's turning out to be a bugger.

I managed this one in 2010 by shooting through some clouds.
I shot a buttload of pics of it that day, only to realize after it was almost over that I'd forgot to program my camera to save the shots automatically.

I decided to drive to the east coast and see if I can get some pics from the beach. Damned thing is going to start shortly after sunrise here.

I won't be seeing it. Hmph.
these are things we think we know
these are feelings we might even share
these are thoughts we hide from ourselves
these are secrets we cannot lay bare.

I have to time mine right, as we may be out to dinner when it happens.

Shaky start.
Worked on it. Still kinda meh.
I need a proper glass solar filter, I guess. I could never get much sharper than this. Then again, it was pretty misty all morning. Dunno. Whatever.
Then...before I knew what hit me...socked in.
At the last minute, I slapped the cam and long lens together and made one more desperate grab.
I drove 9 hours round-trip just to have fog cut my viewing in half.
Hope at least one of you got the ring of fire, so to speak.

You're very welcome, Ayaan. It was the least I could do. I checked.

I just noticed something weird...Anybody here know how to explain the following two consecutive shots?

A small opening in the fog changed the exposure?

Eh? Whence the reversed image below the actual? I'm thinking it must be due to something, but I'm not sure about it, admittedly. It might be due to something else, for all I know. Odd piece of work, to me, anyways.
