Ron Paul wins Maine, and I was there!

Post by Tyrannical » Mon May 07, 2012 1:46 am

God, what an exhausting two days, but it was worth it. Ron Paul won everything. Every delegate, every alternate, the national republican committee members, and all the State county republican positions. I don't think we lost a single vote. But some of it was long, drawn out, and bitter! I'd say most non-Paul supporters accepted the results gracefully and were grateful for the new former Obama supporters we brought in. But there were several adult temper tantrums, heated arguments between delegates and a lot of the established "power brokers" were not happy.

Once seated, as far as I can tell Paul supporters will completely control the Maine Republican party.'

I suppose if anyone is curious, I'd answer there questions.
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

I think Ron Paul supporters suffer from some much more serious impairments, but I digress...

I'll tell you there is no talk about third party because they have been taking over the local Republican parties in several States instead. Ron Paul isn't just a man and it's not just about the Presidency, he's become a new political movement.

Here's a question: how do we do this in Massachusetts? Or do you need more specific questions?

I don't know. Maine hasn't been part of Massachusetts since 1820, and I'm not that old.

Why does Ron Paul still insert earmarks into budgets even though he's come out against them?
these are things we think we know
these are feelings we might even share
these are thoughts we hide from ourselves
these are secrets we cannot lay bare.

I don't usually get excited about watching the Republican National Convention, but when I do, it'll be be this August.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

I'm sorry, I wasn't very clear. He's against growing federalism, but seeks federal tax dollars to help county- and state-level projects in Texas. He put many of those requests through in the form of earmarks attached to unrelated legislation, which he then voted against ... knowing fully well that his colleagues would approve the main thrust of the legislation, and he'd get both his earmark ... and the ability to crow about his principled stand against Federal spending.

My apologies for not being clearer.

Also, I'm wondering why a "libertarian" thinks that a government should be able to discriminate against homosexuals who wish to get married?
