But is it approved for use in the Olympics?Gawdzilla wrote:Skynet approves.
It could make some of the events a bit more interesting. Especially the shooting events.
While there is a market for shit, there will be assholes to supply it.

In Soviet Russia Charlene fucks YOU.
Outside the ordered universe is that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.

What do you mean with "especially the shooting events"? Any and every event Charlene participates in will be a shooting event.mistermack wrote:It could make some of the events a bit more interesting. Especially the shooting events.

Completely useless without first-person sighting/navigation.
Could probably be shot down with an air rifle.

What use was a microwave oven before the invention of electricity? You've got to give these things time, it's a proof of concept design.JacksSmirkingRevenge wrote:Completely useless without first-person sighting/navigation.

Amateurs have been building first-person piloted, autonomous and semi-autonomous aircraft for years.
The one in the op (like all others I've seen) is far too small and light to be an effective and stable weapons platform anyway.
The best use for something like this would be to fit a camera, make it so it will follow waypoints and use it for spotting for mortars or something, imo.

Needs more umph...give it a few years and the new batteries will be lighter and longer lasting. Then it'll need some kind of silencer for the rotors. Some advanced AI capability so it doesn't need to be tethered to a human operator all the time.JacksSmirkingRevenge wrote:Lol. This struck me as noisy, clumsy and very vulnerable. You could throw a stone at it the way it was being used and knock it down.
More work maybe. Better still ditch it. Its just one more machine designed to kill.

I can envisage a hundred of them being operated by terrorists, and descending on an unsuspecting crowd, doing a lot of damage. Also, as has been mentioned a short while ago, the model merely constitutes "proof of concept" and the bloke in the Youtube clip suggests that a sufficiently mature version may be ten or 15 years away.
