You'd be happier with McCain/Palin right now?
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

Hey, at least Palin would make Newstimme FUN, not like that nonentity biden... Funny, I don't think I've even seen him represented or mentioned in Doonesbury... if being more transparent than quayle is not a kind of superpower, I don't know what is.

I'd be happier with Palin than with Biden. I mean, Biden thinks GM is still the biggest company in America. He's off by an order of magnitude - or by two generations worth of time.

I'm not certain I'd be happier with McCain. McCain would probably have gotten us bogged down in Afghanistan escalations, just like Obama did. I can definitely see McCain continuing the indefinite detentions, and maybe even the assassinations, that Obama did.

I guess he might have done a slightly less abysmal job on the economy, though I think he was in favor of the same bailouts.

The kid gloves treatment for biden' obvious and common gaffes, as compared with how quayle was skewered relentlessly, is more proof of wild media bias. If biden was a publican, he would be massacred daily.

I think mcain was slandered by the media. His record was impeccable.

Folks were furious about the swiftboating of kerry. That was nothing compared to what was done to mccain.

Either that, or they think it's not nice to make fun of someone for going senile.

He voted for USAPATRIOT. He voted for TARP. He co-drafted the NDAA provision legalizing indefinite detention of American citizens without trial. He's the ultimate big government Republican.

Media bias? Didn't Trudeau skewer the clintons about the lewinsky scandal and possibly that real estate scandal they were mixed with?

Bah! McCain had been touted as the likable. sensible, bi-partisan yet principled Republican for about a decade. McCain fucked himself out of the Presidency by his choice of VP. Obama had Serious Guy as a VP and when the shit hit the stock market, Hockey Bimbo just wasn't cutting it any more.

That's pretty succinct. I don't recall McCain himself taking a lot of personal slander, certainly not compared to the elitist/socialist/muslim/terrorist that I voted for. McCain ended the election with his reputation pretty much intact, save for his pathetic choice for VP.

Long after the election, he made an asshat out of himself when he lead the resistance to ending Don't Ask Don't Tell, but that's another story.

I don't vote along party lines and wouldn't have been unhappy had McCain been elected, except for the aforementioned Hockey Bimbo becoming second-in-charge. :?

Actually, CES might be referring to that thing where his opponent spread rumors about him having an illegitimate black child.

Gosh, I remember that now. That was a despicable thing to do, negative campaigning at its very lowest.
Minor detail: it was the Bush campaign that did that to McCain, during the 2000 primaries.
