Ted Nugent vs Obama

Post by Coito ergo sum » Wed Apr 18, 2012 6:54 pm

Rock legend Ted Nugent is firing back at reports the U.S. Secret Service is targeting him for a harshly critical speech of the Obama administration he delivered at the National Rifle Association over the weekend.

The longtime advocate for gun rights compared President Obama and the Democrats to an unwanted animal visiting someone’s home.
“It isn’t the enemy that ruined America,” he said, affirming his support for Republican presidential front-runner Mitt Romney.

“It’s good people who bent over and let the enemy in. If the coyote’s in your living room pissing on your couch, it’s not the coyote’s fault. It’s your fault for not shooting him.”

Nugent had said in his address that “if Barack Obama becomes the president in November, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year.”

“If you can’t go home and get everybody in your lives to clean house in this vile, evil, America-hating administration, I don’t even know what you’re made of,” he said at the NRA.

Nugent’s words got even more descriptive at times, calling Obama a criminal and saying his administration is “wiping its a– with the Constitution.”

Sheesh that guy really hates Obama. What makes Obama so much worse than Bush or Romney anyway? They all seem very similar if you ask me...

Mainly their taxing and spending policies. Obamacare vs no Obamacare is a huge difference. Their main difference is what they hope to achieve and their political philosophies. Obama wasn't kidding, IMO, when he he said he wanted to fundamentally transform the US. He comes from a very different philosophical base than the liberalism on which this country was founded.

Bush was big gov't/big spender too. The Nuge's boiling, seething hatred clearly goes beyond a disagreement over fiscal policy.

Nugent is a berk. It says a lot about the NRA that they have him as a speaker.

Bush had no philosophical base.

Yes, Nugent disagrees with Obama on a very fundamental level -- not only what he does, but what he represents. Nugent, I think, is also a bit racist.

Rock legend? Never heard of him.
A legend in his own lunchtime I think. Everybody's a legend these days.

Ted Nugent was on fucking fire in the 70s. What happened to him? He sucked after Cat Scratch Fever.
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.

He's sold like 30 or 40 million records. In the 1970s he was hugely popular with a string of multi-platinum albums. He was also with the group Damn Yankees, which had some members of Styx in it too, I think.

I don't like his music much. But, he was popular, and he used to play football stadiums packed with 75,000 fans at a clip.

Must be an American thing. I loved the Allman Brothers, Eagles, The Band, quite liked Lynard Skinnard and many others, but never heard of Nugent.
Maybe he just didn't get played over here. I haven't heard of Damn Yankees or Styx either.

Styx was hugely popular in the late seventies thanks to their Grand Illusion and Pieces of Eight albums. Damn Yankees (with Nugent and Styx's Tommy Shaw) were never really all that popular.

Here's Nugent:

And in his younger days with the Amboy Dukes:
