In for a penny in for a pound--I "left" because I was banned.

The site is a club house for a single status quo. No opposing views will be tolerated. They are biased and hypocritical and incompetent. They are a disappointment and worse.

I am caring less and less every day that rational skepticism is not only a failure of skepticism, critical thinking and competent logic--they are as authoritarian and in-group and delusional (AKA in denial) as theists.

I left a while back because the FUA was a fucking shambles that stifled any discussion and that much of vocal and reactionary minority who defended it against any questioning or criticism were a bunch of juvenile hypocrites who could not wait to bend their own rules on personal attacks to accommodate their biases when Josh Timenon (sp?) joined. To the extent that they defined him as a public figure, because he had a blog. What wonderful reasoning.

In the end I realised I was attempting to fight to make an FUA fit for purpose on a forum where it necessitated it, but the vocal and reactionary minority liked it the way it was, until it eventually was exploited by them against each other until the entire circle jerk was drenched with each other's virtual jism.

They should really call it DunKrug.

They are nowhere near being the heir to RDF. The majority of the really high powered thinkers moved on and the fun people are over here.

I'm a member of both and I just enjoy the freewheeling vibe here a lot more. I don't do the typical argument threads anymore since they never resolve and never bring up anything new. It's just not fun for me to be oh-so-serious online anymore. I'll throw in a comment on the more serious threads now and then, maybe post a link to something particularly galling, but I don't care if I 'win' or not. Same goes for JREF, I just play in the Humor forum.

Though I was never particularly active at RatSkep. Mostly read others' stuff. A lot of good brains over there, but too argumentative wrt the topics I was interested in. A bit of one-upsmanship, etc, in most of those discussions. I stopped visiting there for unrelated reasons, though. I'm still glad the place exists and hope them all the best.

Yes, and I should clarify - I think it's great that people DO engage online in the serious discussions because everyone is new to new points of view at some point in their experience. I still glean some fresh insights when reading those threads, I just don't want to fight about things online.
