RatSkep voluntary refugees here

Post by macdoc » Wed Apr 11, 2012 1:29 am

Number of you are voluntary refugees from RatSkep and they are having a few modding issues over there at the moment.

Interested in hearing uncensored feedback on why you left or if you are an active member on both as I am - why do you prefer one over the other.

I find RatSkep tight assed at times and wish at least for certain categories - especially woo bashing - they'd loosen up instead of letting obvious trolls hide behing FUA nonsense.
I do think the Science and Arts forums work there tho Science has maybe too many subforums.

Trying to get management to dump the woo forums including ALL skydaddy junk down at the bottom with pseudoscience and conspiracy as a free for all fire zone

Thoughts??? bacon wrapped optional. :td:

Please remember that many of the folks over there are members here, so think about it before you get too froggy. Thanks.

Criticise the policies of another site as much as you like but be wary of doing similar with any individuals - most of the staff and more prominent members there are also members here and a personal attack is a personal attack... :tea:

I vaguely remember joining up there once, but have never been back; not for any negative reasons, simply that one crazy atheist forum is all I can handle, and still have time for gin and quadratic equations...

Not to change the subject Jim, but I was thinking of you while...well nevermind, let's just say that my cousin has toilet paper with quadratic equations all over it. :hehe:

Suffice to say that I was able to solve one problem, but not another.

In for a penny in for a pound--I "left" because I was banned.

The site is a club house for a single status quo. No opposing views will be tolerated. They are biased and hypocritical and incompetent. They are a disappointment and worse.

I am caring less and less every day that rational skepticism is not only a failure of skepticism, critical thinking and competent logic--they are as authoritarian and in-group and delusional (AKA in denial) as theists.

Hey, since you were banned you don't belong in this thread. You're banned. :hehe:
But Gallstones was here long before that banning.

I've nothing against RatSkep at all.

I simply don't have time for two fora, so I chose the one I thought would suit my needs. Maybe I should bugger out of this thread too.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

Nothing to do with it whether she was here before or not - she didn't "choose" between the two.

I find it interesting that some people have a number of forums they are part of (perhaps getting different positives out of each), while others such as myself, (and Rob S by the sound of it) are satisfied by one...

It may be the digital; equivalent of monogamy vs polygamy...

Yeah - thos that only really applies if the forums are very similar which is one area I'm trying to tease out here.

I'm on a few forums but their topics are different, Mac forums for biz, motorcycle forums for that, science forums and then here and RatsSkep.

This is more free wheeling and if there are not some changes at RS then the balance will shift here while I'll maintain some interest there in things like books and the more extensive science side.

Not really playing the field you your metaphor - choice is good tho. For instance the three motorcycle forums are all different focus.
One is adventure riding for my time in Australia, one specific to my ride in Canada and one a regional riding forum for GTA riders.

If RS moves away from oh so serious "RDF clone with a mission" and lets more chew toy fun into the woo forums then I'd keep my teeth sharpened for that
