Well, there's your problem. I cured myself of taste a long time ago.

And sure, Total Recall is no Blade Runner obviously, but you don't watch Arnie movies for plot and character development, you see them 'cause they're silly and ridiculous and entertaining.
And I have, for those very reasons. But I liked the recent remake of "Condom duh Beerbarian" because it was funny.
Dude, that was bad. And not in a good way.

Arnie's Conan on the other hand, was a timeless classic. James Earl Jones shot people through the heart with arrow-shaped snakes for god's sake.

Both were little more than cartoons. "timeless classic"? You gotta have them standards looked at, dude.

The original used the PKD story for its first 15 minutes - Dick's story ended where Quail (Quaid in the film) is found to have actually been to Mars.

Parts of other SF short stories (not all of them Dick's) were used to pad out the film: in particular, I remember the part where the drop of sweat on Dr Edgemar's brow tips off Quaid that he (and hence also Quaid) is in a real situation from a story that I read as a teenager - I was pissed off when I reread "We can remember it..." and found that it stopped way before then - still waiting to reread that one! :lay:

The new Total Recall looks like it could be kinda cool. Hard to say. But this? Why? WHY?! WHY?!
Nothing will ever beat the original Robocop.

People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.

Seriously, if the Arnie/JEJ movie hadn't dragged the Conan name in mud and filth and shat all over Howard's Fans' collective faces, I'd be the first to call that movie a minor masterpiece of fantasy.

The new one just manages to be even worse, problem is since I already sentenced most of the people responsible for the other movie to be impaled, I don't know what worse I could think up for those who made the new PoS.

It's Deathlok the Demolisher, an early 70's Marvel comic, and the character the screenwriters of Robocop blatantly ripped off. I mean perhaps took inspiration from.

becauser it was made to draw people based on their liking of certain previously made works, and those who made it took definite pains to shit on the face of the main target audience.
and because it's otherwise one of the best movies of the genre made in the last 40 years or so.

Okay, so it's just a matter of opinion. I thought there might be concrete criteria involved. :snooze:

Remarkably similar to Battle Royale too.
