I was discussing....why?, I do not know....with some fundies. They had no idea about chemistry.
I don't know where to ask this for real, so this is just a test poll.

The confusion comes from just having high school chemistry. You see this and learn it is mostly made of empty space

Then they teach you acids and bases and maybe a lead battery. You write things as formulas. NH4Cl, ammonium chloride. Only the honors and AP chemistry would show you that even that has a 3D shape.
