Chemicals have structure?

Post by Tero » Sun Apr 01, 2012 6:03 pm

I was discussing....why?, I do not know....with some fundies. They had no idea about chemistry.

I don't know where to ask this for real, so this is just a test poll.

I think so, but don't ask me for details.
[Disclaimer - if this is comes across like I think I know what I'm talking about, I want to make it clear that I don't. I'm just trying to get my thoughts down]

The confusion comes from just having high school chemistry. You see this and learn it is mostly made of empty space

Then they teach you acids and bases and maybe a lead battery. You write things as formulas. NH4Cl, ammonium chloride. Only the honors and AP chemistry would show you that even that has a 3D shape.
