In some towns it's illegal to be homeless. Shuffle along vagrant. :dq:
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

comparing supplying something to eat with working as a dentist is hardly like-for-like.
I've been feeding myself and others for over forty years, without poisoning myself or anybody else. And never had a single day's training.

And if you're springing to the defence of the US, pointing out that homeless people have sued people who gave them food isn't really helping. Around the world, constant litigation is one of the things that people find amusing about the States. ( although in most cases, it just happens first in America, then spreads to the rest of the world ).
I didn't know you work as a cook in a restaurant or in foodservice.

No, I'm not springing to the defense of the US - I'm pointing out the sensationalism of that particular article's title.

But, if we want to generalize...

On the subject of dentists... I had an interesting discussion waiting at the train station in Manchester today with a local about British dental care, it wasn't what I would call a glowing account. ;)
My roommate out in San Pablo was a dentist in Egypt. Had already done over 100 extractions but was working at a Burger King studying to get his US certification stuff.

On a side note, he said it really sucked being a Christian in Egypt and argued passionately with the JWs about the finer points of Christ's divinity.
He was a Copt?

Given the specifics of Coptic theology, and the fact that JWs deny Jesus' divinity (one of the few good points I find with them), it sure must have been interesting indeed, like hearing a tourette afflicted guy trying to debate a deaf one.
Very Coptic. At the time I was "Spiritual, not religious" so I told them they should pay attention to the Sermon on the Mount and let the theological entities work out the theological details. Then I went out to continue my quest to sample every burrito stand within a one mile radius. Never did finish that quest, but I had a great time trying.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

Well, it's Indiana to start with. But it was also a high school, and according to the principle the post was done on a school computer. Kid had no one to blame except himself.

The food service argument is more complex than it looks. Orlando banned feeding homeless people in one city park, because the businesses around that park were experiencing a severe drop off in custom and a severe rise in property crime. Businesses pay taxes, the homeless don't.

When I had my concession trailer I tried to donate my excess to homeless shelters - wasn't allowed to do so. You can't give away second hand food under state sanitation and food safety laws. I tried to get permission to set up on city land after an event and give the food away free - wasn't allowed to do so because of liability considerations, even though I had a state inspected facility and food manager certificate. The city isn't about to get sued because I give someone salmonella. Believe me, if I could change the litigious nature of the country I certainly would, the cost of insurance and the onerous level of regulation necessary to limit the lawsuits are what put me out of business.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Why is anyone surprised about this considering the fact that adults discussing it are actually using the phrase "F-Bomb" in public discourse?

F bomb is not the same term as "fuck", "fucking" or "fucked", and it's used with its own denotations and connotations, specially to emphazize the scandal caused in certain circles by the use of fuck derivated terms.

You'll notice that we do use the term, though, whereas I'm pretty sure nobody here drops "nigger" to casually designate a certain category of people (and I even doubt anybody here actually used it even as a derogatory)

No, but then one would only ever use nigger in specific contexts though, fuck is ubiquitous entirely flexible and known by children of all ages to mean so many things that to to say "f-bomb" implies the word is some kind of explosive device, waiting to go off in the faces of the puritans who are frightened of sounds and graphics. To use "f-bomb" is not only to accept the word fuck is somehow still shocking, but to pander to the sensibilities of a deranged minority that see fuck like some kind of verbal heavy ordinance at the expense of the general who use it almost as punctuation.

Fuck those fucking fuckers in their various fucking fuck holes. It is the most splendid word in the world and that comes not from its power to shock but from its simple structural elegance to expel someone for its use is no better than "letting the terrorists win"
