I've had it on queue for ages, but never watched it. I guess I'll have to bump it up when Ayaan is available.Ronja wrote:I'm so happy someone else knows that film!hadespussercats wrote:Michelle Pfeiffer isn't my favorite star-- I like her all right, but that's it. Usually.
But I think she has a quality in Ladyhawke that's special. She looks luminous. Radiant and luminous.None of even my oldest and best friends, except the one who happened to see it with me in Stockholm when it was first showing, even recognize the film's name.
It was such a fluke: sometime in the mid(?)1980s, we were shepherding a class of high school students (could have been my youngest sister's senior class?) on their class trip and got an evening off from the "real" grownups. And it was raining, so we checked out the movies, simply because we had some time to kill. Chose "Ladyhawke" because of the feeling/style of the poster. Came out two hours later pretty stunned and quite content, both of us.

Wow, I haven't watched Ladyhawke in many years. I got it at the time because I like Rutger Hauer after being impressed with him in Blade Runner. Which leads me to...
Rutger Hauer in Blade Runner. Role of a lifetime. Unless you count Hobo With a Shotgun

People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.
They're just waiting their turn.

So, what do you have against "Blind Fury"? (Probably the nerdiest of nerd references in "Paul", btw.)tattuchu wrote:Wow, I haven't watched Ladyhawke in many years. I got it at the time because I like Rutger Hauer after being impressed with him in Blade Runner. Which leads me to...

I wonder how Blind Fury would hold up if I were to watch it today. It seemed a little silly at the time, but good fun. I'll have to add it to my amazon cart.

I have not seen too many of his films, but I'm still inclined to buy the statement above.tattuchu wrote:Wow, I haven't watched Ladyhawke in many years. I got it at the time because I like Rutger Hauer after being impressed with him in Blade Runner. Which leads me to...

Daryl Hannah was also pretty awesome in Blade Runner - but the film where she was obsessive about fire (that's the only detail of the film I remember - otherwise I have no idea which film I'm talking about) was just unbelievable, IIRC.

I like her in anything. Roman Holiday is good too. I don't so much like the one where she plays a nun in that awful convent. I always think of despoiling her...maiforpeace wrote:No...I adore Audrey Hepburn, but that wasn't her best acting job...the kiss in the end? I have to second Rutger Hauer in Blade Runner. He was perfect.tattuchu wrote:Wow, I haven't watched Ladyhawke in many years. I got it at the time because I like Rutger Hauer after being impressed with him in Blade Runner. Which leads me to...

I really like Harrison Ford in that, too-- but I think Star Wars is my ultimate for him. (The first one.) No, No that's stupid-- Indiana Jones! 1 and 3.
As for Darryl Hannah, I actually think the Kill Bill movies were her best. But for goofy/silly, I like her in Crazy People, I think, better than Roxanne or Steel Vaginas or whatever...
Ladyhawke confession-- my first moviestar crush was on Matthew Broderick in that film. (Of course, Ferris Bueller is his pinnacle film.)

Not to mention George Clooney's best role as well, in that film.
