What's bloody wrong with Manic Miner?!
Actually not a lot. Some of those 8 bit games are hard to beat for gameplay, and Mario 64, now pretty old stuff, is possibly the best game ever. What we get now is super duper flash and bang, often with not much behind it.
Mario 64 was great, in fact, loads of the N64 games were but the Metal Gear series and stuff like WipEout HD make 3d gaming worth it

I've played Wipeout on a 15x8 meter screen in a cinema with an awesome refresh rate (the projector was top of the line professional from Barco). I did not need any 3D for that, I was in it.

The closest I got to that was playing Project Gotham Racing on the xbox in the cinema I worked in, though the picture quality was shit :(

I'll consider those crash-bang-boom games when I get to play them in a holodeck, teamed up with Worf and K'Ehleyr...
