Hundreds of millions of users telling each other what they do and don't like and conveniently filling in all the info about which demographic profile they fit into. Facebook's business model is market research and an advertising platform combined into one, with the ability of targeted advertising and a massive audience to sell.

That is one of the best summaries about Facebook ever. No wonder Google wants the same.
