Well, what I read was that the pond was about three feet deep. And the guy was not that far out.
I agree that this was ludicrous health and safetyism.
Those firemen and the police should hang their heads in shame.

And I do agree that declaring him dead is a ludicrous excuse, and just making it look worse.
People can be revived, and have been on thousands of occasions.

Apparently, the guy suffered epileptic fits. How can you tell if he's beyond saving?

The Torygraph piece does mention the case in Blackpool when five police officers jumped into the sea to rescue a fuckwit who had jumped in to save his dog, only for fuckwit and three of the coppers to drown.
