The gasoline/petrol price thread.

Post by Coito ergo sum » Wed Feb 22, 2012 12:55 pm

Looked like the gas stations this morning were pricing at about $3.95 per gallon (about a $1.05 per liter) for high octane, and about $3.65 for regular unleaded today in the Tampa Bay metropolitan area.

I heard California's average prices are past $4 per gallon these days.

1 US gallon = 3.78541178 liters

How much are you paying in your neck of the woods these days?

It's too early in the year for this to be starting. There is a strange disturbance in the Force, I fear.

Around 140.9p/l for unleaded; 148.9p/l for diesel.

Which translates (on current exchange) to:

$8.37 per gallon 'gas'; $8.82 per gallon diesel.

Damn -- it would cost me about $18 per day to go to work, not including tire and other vehicle wear, to get to work....

Do you drive a tank? Or live 200 miles away from where you work?

He lives in the US. Car efficiency is in gallons per mile and not the other way around.

Ayaan drives ~45 miles one way, so about four gallons of gas. That's $13.80 per day in gas, four days a week. $55.20 a week, $220/month, just for gas.

:Erasb: Not always. People tend to commute far longer distances here.

That's an outrageously poor fuel economy.

Plenty of people spend way more than that on transport to work in the UK whether its public or private transport.
When only criminals carry guns the police know exactly who to shoot!

25 miles each way. One gallon of gas each way, roughly. Not all mileage is at highway mileage rates, when lights are involved. City and in-town driving reduces mileage.
