Gaiking!?

Wow, must be new, there's no mention of a Gaiking movie on Wikipedia, and that's a classic from the fertile mind of Go Nagai, produced shortly after Grendizer.

Mind expanding on that? Basically, it looks like a giant robot movie that has the same title (and visual similarities) with the title bot of an anime series from the middle 70s.

What's weirder is that in the eponymous anime, the pilot was a guy, and he it sure looks like a girl.

I’m a fan of the darker, less colorful aesthetic on display here. In the AICN post that debuted the trailer, Knowles emphasized that “Both Matt and Jules really wanted me to let you all know that while they like what you see here… this is essentially just the CG model – not what you’ll see in the film.”

I can't find anything past 2010, including that teaser trailer. I wonder was it scrapped?
