I fail to understand the distinction between private health care arrangements, whatever they may be, and government interference with the health care industry as an attempt to "socialize" medicine. The former utilizes the free markets to drive up costs enormously, creates gross inefficiencies and unfairness, rations limited resources to the wealthy and decides who lives and who dies based on the economic cost of their care. The latter, not so much.

I prefer to conduct my own health care which I learned from a book while sitting in an armchair; it's way cheaper and has created, in this country, the finest most advanced coffins on the planet. Did I ever tell you about the time..............

Please don't alter a quote without alerting your reader that you have done so. There are even smilies for it. It's misrepresentation, and in less obvious cases, the reader may not notice the change in text and attribute your opinion to the original author. I realize you mean this as a joke, but I'm sure you wouldn't feel it was a joke if someone doctors your words and you end up fighting with a bunch of people because of someone else's joke or attempt to make a point by changing your quote.

Example smilie:

I am a member of the undercover internet police and my job is to be concerned. I am worried that too many people don't take the internets seriously, in particular my opinions are often regarded as the ramblings of someone who confuses the internets with real life. Example: see my posts. Did I ever tell you about the times I took myself seriously but nobody else did?

Aspire 1670, this is a reminder from the staff that changing quotes, when not done in good-humored jest, isn't playing nice (for a description of the "play nice" rule, see here: http://rationalia.com/forum/viewtopic.p ... 9#playnice .) Thank you.

Let's keep things civil and aboveboard, everyone! ;)
