That'll learn her.
Libertarianism: The belief that out of all the terrible things governments can do, helping people is the absolute worst.

About me: Twoflower is the optimistic-but-naive tourist. He often runs into danger, being certain that nothing bad will happen to him since he is not involved. He also believes in the fundamental goodness of human nature and that all problems can be resolved, if all parties show good will and cooperate.

Good for him!
I'm wild just like a rock, a stone, a tree
And I'm free, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I flow, just like a brook, a stream, the rain
And I fly, just like a bird up in the sky
And I'll surely die, just like a flower plucked
And dragged away and thrown away
And then one day it turns to clay
It blows away, it finds a ray, it finds its way
And there it lays until the rain and sun
Then I breathe, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I grow, just like a baby breastfeeding
And it's beautiful, that's life

But I already know how it ends. The dude doesn't blow up the laptop, he just shoots it. So lame. :nono:

I looove this quote from RatSkep.

The problem with what he done is that it's not discipline or punishment. It's revenge. I hope he's prepared for the possibility of a long-running series of tit-for-tat.
no child will be foolish to try test the patience after their laptop was blown up with bullets, at least no foolish child shall do something like that, hope she is safe, probably paranoid.Hes probably mad, unstable.
I would think it more likely that some day she will rebel totally against her father, depending on how much intelligence and confidence her upbringing will have equipped her with she will either move the fuck away and start a new happy life elsewhere or simply replace her father with a string of abusive relationships with similarly domineering men.

Either way, she will have no contact with him ever again at which point he will need to go out and buy some bigger guns in order to maintain some illusion of potency or control over his life. A life which he will live out in increasingly bitter isolation until he either goes postal (finally becoming a poster boy for gun ownership, though not in the way he envisages now) or eats one of those $1 bullets having left a suicide note that noone will care to read, before the contract cleaner called in to scrape and steam his 3-month decomposed corpse off his liquor-soaked carpet sweeps it into an industrial refuse sack and hauls the lot away for incineration.

That's what you get for thinking you have any privacy on the internet, let alone facebook.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."
-Mr P

The Net is best considered analogous to communication with disincarnate intelligences. As any neophyte would tell you. Do not invoke that which you have no facility to banish.

I mean, it's fine to discipline the kid for that Facebook post and set the record straight, but something about a show like that makes me think I'd rather do 10 hours of farm chores for someone else before I'd get him a coffee. She got the attitude that led to her making that post somewhere...

She's a 15 going on 16 year old, I think that is where the attitude comes from.

I don't agree with him destroying the laptop, but like how he responded to her facebook comment.

I totally agree with that.

He seems like the kind that, once he's decided he's in the right...

Knowing that somebody else was using her laptop would have been a great punishment, especially if he didn't erase anything first. :zilla:

Yep. Teach her never to leave a trail anywhere...

How competent do you really want your kid to be at keeping secrets from you?
