Where are you on the scale of the Universe?

Post by klr » Thu Feb 09, 2012 4:54 pm

... a very neat Flash animation:

http://images.4channel.org/f/src/589217 ... hanced.swf

You can use the bottom scroll bar to zoom in/out, but clicking on the objects themselves also works, as well as showing pop-up text.

EDIT: Click something in the centre to zoom in, something on the outside to zoom out. If whatever is in the centre is too small, or there is nothing available on the outside, just use the scroll bar for a bit.

Judging by the inclusion of Russell's Teapot, the author must be one of us :awesome:

... I just realised you can use the scroll wheel to zoom in and out as well.

Oh, and you can save the file for viewing off-line as well. :)

Where was it? I missed it!

Anyway, I had to stop - or at least pause - I started to get non-trivially dizzy for some reason, quite physically. Weird.

It's in the 100/1 metre circle :whisper:

And I can see why zooming rapidly in and out might make one dizzy :dizzy:

It is brilliant, the best single page I've ever seen.
Lots missing though. How big is god, and is an angel bigger than a human?
And it only shows one universe.

I wonder if there is one for time, that would be a great page as well.

A human lifetime in the middle, and zoom in and out for shorter and longer timespans would be brilliant.
While there is a market for shit, there will be assholes to supply it.

Interesting, if a bit ho-hum. I was amazed that Pluto and some of the moons are so small. And puzzled that the range of the weak force is noted as being in the range of distances not yet confirmed. Still kinda fun.
