We got rid of the death penalty here and in such a case I wouldn't call for it. If they had succeeded and not killed themselves in the process, well yes I think a public execution would be an apt. Now I know some might curl up their toes at the thought of it, but it serves two purposes, one, a propaganda victory and two while our citizens might not wish for the death penalty, such pricks have no problem with the state they dream of having it, so let them and their chums experience a bit of it. Perhaps some will actually come to realise they like our comforts after all.

I've been thinking about this a bit recently. Are we actually obligated to treat those who want to destroy our societies in the same way as we would those who wish to be members of it, judicially? Let's remember something, we did not torture people, we sent them to be tortured, most often than not, to Islamic nations where such was not "illegal". Our citizens did not sign up to be treated this way certainly, but traitors renounce citizenship by their actions. I say they are worse than foreign terrorists.
