It was worth watching, but really stupid and implausible.

I loved that one :(

But speaking of Ron Perlman...

6) Hellboy Director's Cut. Haven't watched this in years. Not sure hoe the director's cut differs from the theatrical cut. I didn't see anything in this version that I didn't remember from before. Anyway, despite some cheesy acting at the beginning, and an origin that didn't sit well with me*, still, this movie was overflowing with so much awesomeness as to make a comicbook geek jizz in his pants. I know. I did. Six out of five rotten eggs (no, it's okay- they're delicious).

*A demonic creature escapes from a dark dimension and, just because it's little, the professor decides to feed it a candy bar and adopt it. "No, don't shoot," he tells the soldiers. "See? It's just a boy." And just how the fuck does he know the demon boy is friendly? He's lucky it didn't eat his face off and suck out his soul :ddpan:

7) Hellboy II. It's like Pan's Labyrinth on crack! Just creatures and creatures and creatures and creatures. So cool. Only flaw in the film was that David Hyde Pierce did not reprise his role as voice actor for Abe Sapien. Abe wasn't Abe without Pierce. Still, teh awesome was overflowing to the point where this could be overlooked. I give the film six out of five Manilows.

Best line in the film:
"Sorry, kid." *pats head*
"I'm not a kid. I'm a tumor."

I may need to read a couple of biographies to get a better idea. My olny real complaint was that it cast the debate in a modern context, though the way those arguments were presented (such as God creating so many intestinal worms) was very good.

8) Thor. One out of five black Heimdalls. Utter piece of shit with little redeeming value.

9) Captain America. Two of of five dead Buckys. Better than Thor, but instantly forgettable.

10) I Am Number Four. Since my expectations were low, I was hoping I might be pleasantly surprised. I was not. Had a distinct made-for-TV feel to it, you knew what the characters were going to say even before they said it, the high school age characters all looked like they were thirty years old, and I could go on and on. Still, I didn't hate it as much as Thor. I give it one and a half out of five glowing rock fragments.

I should do this this year

1. 1408. Very watchable, based on a Stephen King short story
Outside the ordered universe is that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.

Code: Select all

// Replaces with spaces the braces in cases where braces in places cause stasis
   $str = str_replace(array("\{","\}")," ",$str);
