Climate change is full of non-linear discontinuities and other shit. And it isn't just carbon. The thing is to move slowly because events will not be reversed by wrecking industrial civilization at this late stage but the means to geo-engineer any meaningful answer could be.

Indeed. Ludditism and a return to hunter-gatherer social structure isn't going to do any good at all.
