Once it all kicks off it won't matter what it is called? Just have plenty of spare gas stowed before the price rises?Gawdzilla wrote:Or an "incident".Crumple wrote:This whole situation as the feeling of a accident waiting to happen.

Well, they have 2 to aim at, Vinson and Lincoln (pictured) but they aren't a vulnerable as you seem to think, fag packet mines or missiles, you don't sit 90 aircraft next door to your enemy's port unless you can defend them.Crumple wrote:Just sinking a nimitz class aircraft carrier or two should do it - they are sitting targets with todays missiles.
Current Iranian military posture indicates they may use unclear weapons against the Carrier Battle Groups.HomerJay wrote:Well, they have 2 to aim at, Vinson and Lincoln (pictured) but they aren't a vulnerable as you seem to think, fag packet mines or missiles, you don't sit 90 aircraft next door to your enemy's port unless you can defend them.Crumple wrote:Just sinking a nimitz class aircraft carrier or two should do it - they are sitting targets with todays missiles.
That should do it. But I suspect they've bought some top spec missiles from the UK, by the backdoor, just in case the nukes don't pop.Gawdzilla wrote:Current Iranian military posture indicates they may use unclear weapons against the Carrier Battle Groups.HomerJay wrote:Well, they have 2 to aim at, Vinson and Lincoln (pictured) but they aren't a vulnerable as you seem to think, fag packet mines or missiles, you don't sit 90 aircraft next door to your enemy's port unless you can defend them.Crumple wrote:Just sinking a nimitz class aircraft carrier or two should do it - they are sitting targets with todays missiles.

Me too. Let there be no misunderstanding about the cruelty of complicated worlds.Gawdzilla wrote:Read what I said carefully.Crumple wrote:That should do it. No it won't. If Iran sinks one of our carriers and closes the Strait, the world will rally behind the US in taking Iran down. We won't use nukes because we don't need to use nukes. We have sufficient conventional weapons, including stand-off weapons, to behead Iran's army and government in a couple of hours, rendering their military ineffective.Crumple wrote:They don't need to win a war to win, they just need to provoke a major event. Just sinking a nimitz class aircraft carrier or two should do it - they are sitting targets with todays missiles. If America retaliates using nukes or hitting densely populated civilian areas it will lose all international support and be tret as a pariah state by the many countries it relies upon for essential imports of its own. Could be the Iranian plan is to push the US and get it growling enough to forget consequences of its own?
That other Husseins people certainly enjoy a party with fireworks still going off all these years later.Seth wrote:No it won't. We'll do to them what we did to Saddam, and the people of Iran will rejoice.
