Starts today - hooray. This is the one sporting event of the year I truly love, and this year I'm going. For the first time ever! Hoot :tut: :cheer:

Just getting day passes to the outside courts, and will take one session at the Rod Laver Arena and one at Hisense - so it'll be pot luck who is playing on the day. I don't really care - I just love tennis, without being a fan of anyone in particular (though I do want a glimpse of Federer. Even though he is past his prime, he is still truly a great).

If you get to see Andy Murray, give him a "Come on Andy!" from me, plz. :tea:

Damn the Aussies for being so much out of time with us. There's no way I'm staying up to the wee small hours to watch the action. :lay:

Our Finnish champion, Jarkko Nieminen had to give WO in set two today against David Nalbandian. Pretty predictable, as he played two finals yesterday in Sidney (and won the singles :cheer:)

Dam you, Aussie Open. I was up until after 2am this morning watching one match finish, and then got delayed coming into work just now watching another. :lay:

If Scotland goes its own way, we will need to work out how we divide up Andy Murray..

If bonny Scotland does become independent, then BBC commentators will have to stop referring to Murray as British. Unless he never wins a Grand Slam event, in which case they will refer to him as Scottish.

He started off quite Scottish today but managed to become British in the end.

I caught the last hour of a great match this morning between John Isner and David Nalbandian. 10-8 in the 5th set to Isner, which is nothing to him. :hehe:

Then I had to get up and go to work. :lay:

OMGOMGOMG - I saw soo much live, and had such a great time, and now I can say that I have seen Federer (beat Ivo karlovic, which was impressive and nerve-wracking, and wonderful). I also saw Andy Murray beat Edouard Roger-Vasslin in the second round. I hadn't been a great fan of Murray but have changed my mind. He is an incredible tennis player and hat's off to him. I gave him a standing applause for you, XC, (and for me). I was also very impressed with Tommy Haas. He is the oldest player in the tour, but gave his all against Nadal, going down, but making for a wonderful match. Tsonga, too, is wonderful to watch - a real crowd pleaser. Geez, if I lived in Melbourne, I'd go every year. It was amazingly fun. Now I have to turn the telly back on and watch what's going on now ;)

Federer is playing Tomic tomorrow night - my heart is with Federer, but I really hope Tomic gives it his all. It's about time Aussie-land produced a lovely tennis player again, and Tomic fits the bill. I hope he goes far (but not further than Federer :).
