The only person who did anything genuinely careless was whichever Marine owned the video camera and let the clip get out into the public.
This really ought to be a non-story. So, some muslims are going to get all prissy about how a couple dead Taliban bodies were treated. Well, what does the Taliban do with a prisoner after sawing off his head and posting a video of the decapitation on the internet? I haven't seen a whole lot of public interest in those details.

I find the hypocrisy sad, if understandable. Things happen in wars which most of us lucky civilians have absolutely no experience of and should be thankful for. The closest we come to the horrors and mutilation not to mention the dehumanising of the enemy (an age old technique to help soldiers lose empathy) is Saving Private Ryon and the like.
Pissing on an enemy? Just after you've blown a few limbs off him? Come on now.

I've done similar things after a battle, mostly to try and calm down. I've never done anything like that in cold blood, except for once in Indiana.

When your war aim isnt to kill as many people as possible (which it plainly isnt) pissing of potential allies isnt exactly a good stategy
When only criminals carry guns the police know exactly who to shoot!

Guerrilla warfare makes for a difficult way to conduct search and destroy offensives.
And the Taliban is very adept at guerrilla tactics

'Asymmetrical warfare'. Difficult for a symmetrical army, but they have to try to get it right, even though the whole traditional military mind says, fuck them, kill them and piss on them.
