Larf! SNP would want independence and the pound HAHA!

Post by Rum » Wed Jan 11, 2012 10:49 pm

Just watched slimy Salmond on Newsnight. He wants 'total' independence for Scotland but wants to stay with the pound Stirling rather than join the Euro.

I wonder why, the twat.

Damn, I missed that. Did the Newsnight anchor point out that using a foreign currency =/= "total" independence?

Damn, I wish I'd seen that, Salmond was very pro Euro until the 2009 election, then went pound for the election, then said it would be the Euro all the way, then in December last year said it would be the pound!

Wouldn't that apply just as much to the euro as to the pound?

Salmond is just a petty nationalist jackass and will say whatever plays best to his febrile constituency on the day.

I agree. I find the fact that he puts all his energy into a rather pointless exercise like Scots independence rather pathetic.

He wants to be the fattest fish in a puddle. I find the SNP and Plaid Whatsit ridiculous and depressing. It's small-minded and divisive organisations such as those that make me despair for humanity. This territorial ape is going nowhere fast.

It's a shame you all can't just get along on that little island group of yours.
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

I fail to see advocating independence small minded and divisive. I personally think the union has had its day and the english are hanging onto it because it is its last shred of prestige and power where they have being gazumped by the yanks and lost its empire.

Anyway i'd rather the SNP and Plaid Cymru advocating independence peacefully than blood in the streets.

Of course it's divisive - its basically saying "We on this side of the valley are somehow different from those on the other side". It's demented for an island the size of the UK to be fragmented in such a fashion.

As for the English - we aren't "hanging on" to anything. Scotland and Wales add nothing to our prestige, they just cost money. The Union should be preserved because its the most sensible political unit for the island.

As for Empire, I believe Scotland did very well out of that.

You know that Germany used to be fragmented into bits each the size of Luxemburg, right? and that to this day, Bavarians have trouble making themselves understood in Switzerland, let alone around Berlin or Hamburg.

Aye, and they sensibly decided to amend that. A federal structure might work for the UK but 3 (or more!) separate political entities is a nonsense

Given the cultural disparity between various areas, discrete political entities seem to be the only logical answer... I'm not even sure Cornwall would fit in well enough to federate with Devon and/or Wales rather than need their own state.
