Yeah, no shit. Home invaders don't want a fight. They want to get what they came for with no hassles. They're not going to bring a gun if they know the target is armed. They're just going to go somewhere else, the vast majority of the time.

Pertinent to this thread, I think.
Mr Flanagan, a father-of three, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of murder and spent three days in custody before being released on bail. Mr Flanagan's son and a 21-year-old woman were also arrested but released without charge.
More than a month later the HGV mechanic, an engineer by trade, was told by prosecutors that he would face no charges because he acted in self defence.
Demonstrates nicely the different attitude law enforcement has in this country to the States.

Our police are
fucking idiots and only an idiot would trust them imo.
They
should be sued by all three for false arrest.

Or maybe they would just go into the house when it was empty like most houses are 50% of the time
When only criminals carry guns the police know exactly who to shoot!

I don't own a gun but I pretty much think the more minorities with guns the better. You have to combat privilege with something. Rich people though do not need guns. They just need bodyguards.

If only everyone had your discipline. I couldn't go 25 minutes without wanting to shoot someone.

They try to, criminals here are more afraid of gun owning citizens than they are of cops.

I've always felt that the LGBT community in the US could do with a higher rate of gun ownership. Gay bashing is still way too common in this country, and I'd rather see news articles about dead gay bashers than another Matthew Shepard.

I have this at my bedside.
It fits best in the hand by the spool end. Doing that gives you two surfaces, one surface pointy and the other blunt.
It is very dense bone.
I found it amongst the flotsam left along the creek bank after spring high water a number of years ago.
I call it the bonehammer.
I like the way it feels.
It is a very sensual object.

I'd agree that that took far longer than it should have, but I still think it's important to investigate what happened. Otherwise how do you know it really was self defence?
