It would be kind of weird to break in with rape as the object if nobody was home, right?
I don't know what it is for sure, but something about how the guy was over there when the husband's funeral was taking place, and then came back another day. Something doesn't smell right.
Really? He could have spotted her at the funeral, worked out who she was and cased the joint preliminary to the break-in. His buddy and he had probably worked up some chemical courage prior to the actual event. A friend of mine had something very similar happen to her, but she only had to fire through the door while the guy was bashing on it. She fired high but that was enough to scare the guy off. We moved her that same night, to Pomona.

Of course. I just said I was left with a "feeling" that there are details left out of the story. And, I didn't mean to imply that that meant that there was something she did wrong, if that's what you're getting at. Like I said, the guy was breaking in - she was entitled to shoot him in the face and keep firing until he stopped twitching.

I had just read this at The Blaze and was considering posting it. Thanks for beating me to it.

She did exactly what she needed to do, and she waited a good long time (more than 20 minutes) to do it, demonstrating that armed citizens are not the trigger-happy nutjobs that hoplophobes like to claim they are.

Good for her. One less murderous stalking scumbag to waste incarceration on.

The guy wasn't going after the son, he was going after her. Why can't she just say that--"It was him or me."
How do you know he wasn't going after her son? If he's deranged enough to enter the home with the intent to kill, which is pretty evident, do you really think the child is safe?

She didn't need to say even that though. All she needed to say was "He broke into my house with a knife, so I shot him." Actually, she should have said NOTHING AT ALL until her lawyer showed up.

Weird - she's 18, and that photo of the husband looks like he was 30 back in 1979... :?

Close - the husband was in his fifties. And they'd been married for two years, i.e. since she was 16.

I'm thinking second cousins, once removed ... if we're lucky.

I'm just wondering why there is any issue at all if the intruder was already dead when she shot him? :ask:

Apparently he fled. Turned himself in later.
