A friend of mine had something very similar happen to her, but she only had to fire through the door while the guy was bashing on it. She fired high but that was enough to scare the guy off. We moved her that same night, to Pomona.

Of course. I just said I was left with a "feeling" that there are details left out of the story. And, I didn't mean to imply that that meant that there was something she did wrong, if that's what you're getting at. Like I said, the guy was breaking in - she was entitled to shoot him in the face and keep firing until he stopped twitching.

I had just read this at The Blaze and was considering posting it. Thanks for beating me to it.

She did exactly what she needed to do, and she waited a good long time (more than 20 minutes) to do it, demonstrating that armed citizens are not the trigger-happy nutjobs that hoplophobes like to claim they are.

Good for her. One less murderous stalking scumbag to waste incarceration on.

One thing about the story, she keeps saying she was protecting her son.
The guy wasn't going after the son, he was going after her. Why can't she just say that--"It was him or me."

How do you know he wasn't going after her son? If he's deranged enough to enter the home with the intent to kill, which is pretty evident, do you really think the child is safe?

She didn't need to say even that though. All she needed to say was "He broke into my house with a knife, so I shot him." Actually, she should have said NOTHING AT ALL until her lawyer showed up.
