Actually there was work done by some of the colonials to hinder the French last time . I wonder if this time the French will demand a target list 24hrs in advance so they can sell it to the enemy or was that just for Nato strikes in the Balkans ?

Maybe we should just invade France then swap Their Falklands for France ..do you think Argentina would go for that ?

Of course, the idea that the Latin American countries wouldn't dare try anything is somewhat contingent upon the idea of the leaders of those countries being sane,

HMS Dauntless, one of the new type 45 frigates, to be sent to the South Blighty Islands now. Escalation? Intimidation? Or just a routine deployment?

And now the Spaniards are taking a harder line on Gibraltar - stating the Gibraltarians themselves should not be involved in any negotiations over sovereignty.

All these foreign-johnnies need a good talking to!

I wonder if they'd stick to that principle if the Gibraltarians were largely pro-Spanish? :ask:

Argentines stirring up more trouble, damn their eyes!

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/fe ... a-kirchner

I don't know what is so difficult to understand - of the 3000 people on the Falklands, 2999 of them wish to remain British. Case closed. When a majority want to become Argentine, then we can talk.

Otherwise, time to dust off the old pith helmet.....

Interesting, FBM.

Right now, I am working through a unit on nuclear physics with my physics lads - I may give them this link, if only to emphasise the tentative nature of scientific deduction.

IMO, that tentative quality is one of the hallmarks of rational honesty...
