Re: Watching Howard the Duck for the first time...
A little before my time, but I remember it being written by Steve Gerber and drawn by Gene Colon. Great creative team. Not sure where the character first appeared. I'm thinking maybe Man-Thing? I know Gerber wrote that, and for being a knock-off of Swamp Thing, it was actually quite good.
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.
They're just waiting their turn.

Dirty Duck, in Playboy, reminds me of him.

I thought you'd like it. I couldn't say so until you saw it, however, because then you wouldn't have liked it.Animavore wrote:![]()

They tried so hard to make it work, that's what made it hilarious.
Seeing Tim Robbins and Jeffrey Jones destroyed by inept directing really made me smile.
Every joke they tried pull fell flat on its face due to off timing.
What Industrial Light and Magic and George Lucas were doing tied to this drek is beyond me. At least the Dark Overlord looked pretty cool.

My apologies Ani, that came across wrong and made me look like a sarcastic dick (which I AM but not without good reason).
Sorry if I caused any offense, it was terribly worded, I meant only that you seem to like similar movies.

Well I do have lots of overlaps with him, and his show in the 90s got me into film. I was aware he said Howard the Duck was a cult classic though it's a film I meant to watch since a child. It was one of many I missed out on because we were poor with no video recorder and weren't allowed watch 15s and 18s anyway. I remember other kids talking about this film all the time (and Rambo, Terminator, Aliens etc... I missed out on a lot). Eva mentioned it the other day so I said I'd better download this while I think of it.Audley Strange wrote:SHIT!Animavore wrote:NoAudley Strange wrote:

That's not a bad thing, he has a similar taste to myself, though more about enjoying the experience and his ideas of diminished expectations. I'd recognised that you had too and instead of saying that, typed something cuntish without realising. Again, apologies.Animavore wrote:Well I do have lots of overlaps with him, and his show in the 90s got me into film. Re: Watching Howard the Duck for the first time...
There's only about ten seconds of film worth watching in the whole movie, and that's where Lea Thompson is in her panties, ass to the camera, fixing up the bedclothes for her first night at home with Howard. Nice view.Animavore wrote:... am I doing the right thing or am I letting myself in for profound torture?
This topic is bound to be divisive. Which side will you (or I) take?
Everything else is trash.
