UK Refusing To Help With EU Bailout Fund

Chancellor George Osborne has refused to contribute to the IMF's bailout fund for the EU, Sky News has revealed.
Mr Osborne told his EU colleagues he will not provide any cash to boost the fund, which is specifically aimed at the troubled eurozone.

During a conference call with 26 other EU finance ministers, Mr Osborne made clear that whilst the UK is prepared to take part in global efforts to increase the IMF's resources, it would not participate in any fund specifically intended for a euro bailout.

"We were clear that we would not be making a contribution," a Treasury source said. Another said there was "no agreement" on the proposed 200bn euro fund.

(continued, they all want to be friends again this week, losers....) :coffee:

I wish I understood what the Eurozone is all about.

It's a con, all about buying power and appearing larger than you are to get served first. Like one of those pantomine horses with midgets inside it.

Well, I guess if you're going to isolate yourself from the rest of the EU, there's no point in doing it by half-measures.

It's about Mutually Assured Global Economic Destruction. The intent is to tie all the EU nations together so tightly under EU authority that the HAVE to bail one another out, because if one goes down, they ALL go down.

Surprisingly, the UK seems to have twigged to this and is taking a stand. Good for them...perhaps.

Still, the UK shouldn't come looking to the US for a bailout either. Took you guys way too long to pay off the last loan we gave you to save your bacon...and cheese.

That was a age ago Seth, still living in the glorious past when the states had some money to lend. In real terms America is several times more screwed than the rest of the world combined. It is the elephant in the room....the day is coming. Look on europe and despair. :hehe:

Very much true, I'm afraid. Therefore: bunkers, guns, ammunition, food, gold and a plan...

Last time I looked, the US national debt made it unlikely that Uncle Sam would be giving big bailouts to anyone. :smug:

America in a nutshell - the greatest evil of the 20th Century needs to be stopped, so we will give you a loan, we gotta make a profit on this, you know?

If I were a Yankee, I wouldn't be too proud of the US insisting that every last penny of that particular loan be paid off. :nono:
