Lets not forget handlebar moustaches and a fine set of sideburns, especially on the laydeeeez.

Back when Quebec was talking independence, it was almost assumed (at least in the press) that the rest of Canada would eventually become US States.
It was? Strange I never heard anything about this almost assumption and I lived in Ontario and Quebec at the time. It must have been all on the American side.
I think the assumption was more specifically about Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. Last time I was in Alberta, the people I was visiting seemed to feel they had more in common with the U.S. than with Ottawa.

I'd be happy with it. You should try to become more than one state, though - you should get more than two senators.

I'd rather have the UK than Canada to be honest. And, the U.S. has a Nazi party, we can handle a BNP.

To be honest I'd think the UK might prefer NAFTA membership over actually becoming a state. I actually think the U.S. might be better off splitting into several countries within NAFTA - say, one west of the continental divide, one with the Mississippi/Missouri watershed, and one east of the Alleghenies. Maybe we could have a separate great lakes nation and a union of Alaska and Texas, too.

That would mean a massive reshaping of the Canadian coastline? :ask:
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

Does that mean we can have healthcare that won't cause us to lose our homes if we get cancer?

I support that. You don't want Canada. All we have is maple syrup, igloos and polar bears. No oil, natural gas, freshwater or renewable resources here. None. Move along.

We could call it the United Kingdom of America, or "U.K." for short.

Being slightly more serious - i wonder if NAFTA membership was ever thought about or planned for, as a contingency.
