Britain as 51st State

Post by Clinton Huxley » Mon Dec 12, 2011 1:28 pm

Now we've told the EU to bugger off and have set ourselves on the slow march out of the Union, we will be looking for a new union to join. As 51st State, we would have the largest GDP in the US and by far the largest population. We could consider changing to using "sprinkles" but the Sausage gravy would have to go

So, accession of the UK to the USA - what would be in it for us and what would be in it for the US?

Go Anglosphere!

Would that make Ireland de facto 51st 1/2 State?

Maybe we could get a 2 for the price of 1 deal?

I was wondering what 51-57 were.
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

But that would mean having to overtly admit that we are of one.

I'm all for it and in fact planning to use the American values of free speech and capitalist opportunity to cash in by starting the Scottish Secessionist Party right now.

On a more serious thought.....
Back when Quebec was talking independence, it was almost assumed (at least in the press) that the rest of Canada would eventually become US States.
As for GB, under the right circumstances a State of England, Wales, Scotland and maybe Northern Ireland and Ireland could work I suppose. Culturally, politically and linguistically they probably are closer to the US than the rest of Europe.

Might be good to have the reptilian Winsors as your heads of state rather than the vat grown doofi you vote for.

It could be staggeringly expensive, of course. Like the re-unification of Germany. Cost West Germany hundreds of billions to bring the East back up to scratch and it could cost Blighty something similar.

Well, under Ron Paul we'd avoid all that since Federal intervention is minimal.

It was? Strange I never heard anything about this almost assumption and I lived in Ontario and Quebec at the time. It must have been all on the American side.

Make it Canada and it's a deal. After all, the UK and Nova Scotia were once one and the same...

We'll take you on three conditions:

1) We get Canada too.
2) You get rid of the BNP.
3) You fucking learn to drive on the right side of the road.
Nobody expects me...

Done but you know that, once we are in, we are going to make top hats compulsory?
