I've been meaning to see that movie where she plays this girl who was trained to be an assassin.
I don't ever see new movies.
Don't waste your time with either of those films. Especially
The Lovely Bones.
I'm not a big fan of Saoirse Ronan. She looks too Irish. I keep expecting to see her walking down Talbot Street in a tracksuit pushing a buggy, puffing on a John Player on her way to the welfare office.

"Hannah" was not very interesting. I had hopes for a teenage lesbian scene, but even that didn't work out. And the continuity editor failed badly there.

She had a spread in Vogue a while back and looked lovely. But then, I like Irish faces, Ani.
I've already been warned about TLB, but I was interested in Hannah.

Cable, Hades, don't pay to see it. It's a super-chick movie with a not very super chick.

That is, around this time in a guy's life he usually takes up some kind of passtime to get him out of the house for a few hours on the weekend or in the evenings, etc. Decades ago my dad got into the Sunday morning cliche of golf, and he's still at it at age 65. I don't really have anything like that. My excuse for a while is that I've been too busy helping out with three young kids to take some serious time for myself. But they're increasingly self-sufficient now, so it's time I got a real hobby.
Now I just need to pick one. A manly one:

You should get a good camera and contribute to the Ratz photography threads.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

Best idea thus far!

"The internet is made of people. People matter. This includes you. Stop trying to sell everything about yourself to everyone. Don’t just hammer away and repeat and talk at people—talk TO people. It’s organic. Make stuff for the internet that matters to you, even if it seems stupid. Do it because it’s good and feels important. Put up more cat pictures. Make more songs. Show your doodles. Give things away and take things that are free." -

Especially if you're there.

UPDATE: Going to the Train Wreck did indeed make me happy. Happy enough for me to start plotting the next one at my house. I've just gotta figure out when the wife's going to be away...
Still no golf or mistress hobby though.

Don't get a mistress who plays golf.

I think my mid-life crisis lasted from 1994 to 2004.

Although it may look like a forum, this site is actually a crowd-sourced science project modelling the slow but inexorable heat death of the universe.

I suspect my midlife crisis started in 1997 (I was really upset at turning 30... and things have been such I don't think it's over yet.
