The green careening planet
spins blindly in the dark
so close to annihilation.

To paraphrase a stupid movie that actually had it mostly right:MrJonno wrote:Have movies based on how the big guy wins over the small guy may be highly realistic but don't make good entertainment.
Most of the time, Goliath kicks the shit out of David. It's just nobody bothers to tell that story.
Rocky does lose the first fight with Apollo, he just does it with enough spunk that Apollo gives him the rematch.Ding Ding, Apollo knocks out Rocky with one blow
They actually end before we even see the rebels seize the power. So they blew up the death stars. The empire was freaking huge. There's no reason to believe that all the empire soldiers immediately threw down their arms and the fighting was over.Ian wrote:How about Star Wars? Nobody much talks about what sort of leftist peacenik collectivism the rebels had in mind once they violently seized power.
That happy ending was neither happy nor an ending. Discuss.
For me the most amazing part of the new Muppets was that they managed to work Cee Lo Green into a children's movie.

That's the whole point Lucas had - he started with "Episode IV" because it was supposed to be a modern rendition of the old-school sci-fi serials that were on t.v. and in the movies way back in the day like Flash Gordon. The end of Episode IV would normally lead to Episode V, etc.mozg wrote: That happy ending was neither happy nor an ending. Discuss.

I was referring to the end of Episode VI.Coito ergo sum wrote:That's the whole point Lucas had - he started with "Episode IV" because it was supposed to be a modern rendition of the old-school sci-fi serials that were on t.v. and in the movies way back in the day like Flash Gordon. ...that's the point - there is always room for another episode in a serial.mozg wrote:I was referring to the end of Episode VI.Coito ergo sum wrote:That's the whole point Lucas had - he started with "Episode IV" because it was supposed to be a modern rendition of the old-school sci-fi serials that were on t.v. and in the movies way back in the day like Flash Gordon. I think the talking head had it right. "They want to get them at the youngest age. Remember, we've heard this before, you've got to indoctrinate them at a young age." Can you say Sunday School? Home schooling? Jesus Camp?
I think my next rogue persona will be 4Q2.
Thank God we still have Fraggle Rock!
