An alternative response would have been:

Royal Navy has some nice boats. The USN, however, has ships.

In short: Nothing.

Although it is an interesting question for the MOD / UK taxpayer and heaven knows who else besides ...

Anyway, the Panama Canal's width determined the beam of the USN battleships. The locks were 110' wide, and Congress decried no USN BB could be more than 108' wide.

Isn't Pearl Harbor rightfully British anyway? When blighty received it as a freely given gift from King Kamehameha in the 1800s, didn't the limeys set it up all right and proper? I'm sure Pearl Harbor, obviously correctly spelled "Harbour," was far superior under British rule...it must have been some 'merkin trick which seized it from the Crown...

So... will you tell them what happened to some of the battleships rebuilt after Pearl Harbour, or will I? :shifty:

Well, it was never ambushed by the Japanese until you Mericans got your dozy paws on it.

British ships could make it around Tierra del Fuego in the same time US ships took to cut across the middle...far superior ships, wut wut...

Ironically, the average Merkin would not fit through the Panama Canal these days
