McConnell Reveals the Truth

Claire McCaskill (D-MO) and Susan Collins (R-ME) introduced legislation specifically crafted to avoid the latest GOP talking point, that taxes on millionaires affect small businesses who file personal instead of corporate. Small business owners filing personal would be exempt from the additional taxes. This is to meet the GOP's specification that small business owners not be affected, which could affect jobs. Read about that here. Note that this is bipartisan legislation; those introducing it are one from each party, Democrats and Republicans. No excuses here.

Mitch McConnell (R-KY) attempted, when questioned at a press conference this afternoon about this bill, to pass the mike to Senator Collins. She was uninterested, putting him very much on the spot, and Mitch let the cat out of the bag. It was most adroitly done; he is now on record refusing to do what he said he would. It's an extremely uncomfortable position for him, and we'll have to see what happens now. The Republicans usually have better message discipline than this. Collins is getting feisty; makes me wonder if she smells a change in the wind. Read about that part here.

You don't usually catch them quite this far aback. I hunted up tape of the presser and lost the link; it's pretty good; Mitch's eyes bulge out and his face gets red and stuff. I'll try to find it again.
