Re: Pope thinks child buggery isn't so bad
There was a fascinating (and harrowing) interview on Irish radio today, with a survivor of child abuse at the hands of a paedophile priest in the mid-1970s. The victim - then still just a child - was "interviewed" by a group of clerics who swore him to secrecy on the understanding that the offending priest would never put in a position where he could harm children again.
They broke their promise. The priest was none other than the notorious Fr. Brendan Smyth:

One of the clerics who interviewed the victim is now the Archbishop of Armagh, and the head honcho in the RC church in Ireland - Seán Brady.

They don't keep their promises because they're all cronies in this this. There are no innocent priests.

I forgot to mention: They also obstructed him for 14 years when he attempted to get restitution/the truth/apologies/hell, just about anything.

They have no ethics about that, it's a survival technique they must use to keep the Church going.klr wrote:I forgot to mention: They also obstructed him for 14 years when he attempted to get restitution/the truth/apologies/hell, just about anything.

Of course. An organisation as old as the Church would not have survived and prospered for so long if didn't have it's own interests at heart. That's a historical constant.Gawdzilla wrote:They have no ethics about that, it's a survival technique they must use to keep the Church going.klr wrote:I forgot to mention: They also obstructed him for 14 years when he attempted to get restitution/the truth/apologies/hell, just about anything.

What court? The US refuses to be a member of the International Criminal Court so the US has no jurisdiction or standing to touch the Pope.Schneibster wrote:

The US has nothing to do with it. There are plenty of people outside the US who would like to see the Pope and most of the RC hierarchy on trial, and many live in countries that are members of the ICC. The ICC is irrelevant, because the Pope and his coterie seem somehow to be beyond any legal mechanism on the planet.Gawd wrote:What court? Take your US-bashing elsewhere, FFS.

Yep. That wins Gawd a prize for his most obscure and out of context attack on the US of the year...klr wrote:The US has nothing to do with it. Maybe, but they are losing credibility fast. It's hard to believe how much Ireland for example has changed in its attitude to the RC church. Good on them!Gawdzilla wrote:And they still act that way.Rum wrote:They used to have it all sewn up. Do as we say, whatever it is, or your soul will burn in hell for eternity. The fuckers.

Unfortunately, it's going to take a lot more injured children before the world wakes up to their shit.Rum wrote:Maybe, but they are losing credibility fast.
