I get to go to a campfire howl tomorrow, first time since the accident. I won't be going into the woods, still can't breathe very well, but at least I get to tell the story.

Told you so,Horwood Beer-Master wrote:...The irony is that far more people are (and probably always were from the begging beginning of farming) injured/killed by livestock than by wolves and other top predators.
In nature it's so often the large herbivores you've got to look out for - even when you think you've got them under your control.

Only in recent years have British toffs begun to claim fox hunting is about pest control. In the past they were more than happy to be honest and regard it as sport.Horwood Beer-Master wrote:Ah yes! I didn't shoot three wolves in Northern BC.. they ran away when they spotted me. My uncle gave me shit for not shooting them.

Re: Should we kill wolves in national parks?
If we're killing wolves without a reason in national parks I have no idea what national parks are for. An animal that becomes a threat to human life I can understand; even one that persistently targets livestock. But that last is used as an excuse. There are many more allegations, helped by scavenger behavior that the livestock owners do not acknowledge or even bother to ever learn about, than there are documented cases of livestock destruction by wolves. I am a wildlife photographer, and though I no longer have the moxie, my sisters and brothers want to photograph wolves. A simple man, I support this ambition in all ways I can.

Again, if this matters to you, go over to http://defenders.org. They are doing really good work out there. They're what PETA should have been.
