USA: Losing an Empire, yet to find a role...

Post by Clinton Huxley » Fri Dec 02, 2011 8:22 am

With "The West" now in terminal and irreversible decline and increasingly in hock to its Eastern paymasters, will the USA withdraw from Empire in as dignified and orderly a fashion as Blighty did?

I doubt it, they'll have to make a big song and dance about it, and crow that the USA retreated from Empire much better than anyone else did. Bah!

Meh, I'd rather have a Republic than an Empire anyways.
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

Next empire the Caliphate perhaps! :ask:

Actually no - they seem to prefer fighting amongst each other rather too much to get it together.

The good old days.
“I wish no harm to any human being, but I, as one man, am going to exercise my freedom of speech. No human being on the face of the earth, no government is going to take from me my right to speak, my right to protest against wrong, my right to do everything that is for the benefit of mankind. I am not here, then, as the accused; I am here as the accuser of capitalism dripping with blood from head to foot.”

John Maclean (Scottish socialist) speech from the Dock 1918.

Wow, so many assumptions, so little time.

"Empire?" Whachoo talkin' 'bout, Willis? Are you high on gasoline?

Keep in mind we never claimed any places detached from our mainland as wholly owned subsidiaries, like India. Let's start there.

Dunno what their empire will dwindle down to or how magnanimous they'll be about it. I expect they'll claim to have never been an empire in the first place. :hehe:

I'm more concerned that other nations shift their economic ties away from the listing USS USA before it capsizes.
