I don't see what that has to do with whether they can sell them arms if they can't transfer money.Geoff wrote:I trust banks about as much as I trust our government.Schneibster wrote:For gold, maybe. The UK has announced it is expelling all Iranian diplomats from its soil effective immediately in response to the storming of its embassy in Tehran. The Iranian embassy in London has been ordered closed, also effective immediately. The staff are being given 48 hours to leave British soil.
Germany, France, and the Netherlands have all recalled their ambassadors "for consultation," a move preparatory to following Britain's lead.
Violation of diplomatic immunity is an extremely serious matter under international law, and Iran is about to be in really huge trouble; getting Iranian citizens into Britain just became impossible and may be about to become impossible all over Europe; combined with economic sanctions, Iran is about to be squeezed very, very hard.
Here's the Beeb for now; when I come across a better article I'll link it.
This situation is moving quickly.

Hmmm, Iran should have just done what Israel does and murder a couple thousand people. There would be less whining from Schneib.

They did that once. Turned out to be a bad move for them, considering what's happening to their economy right now.Gawd wrote:Hmmm, Iran should have just done what Israel does and murder a couple thousand people. There would be less whining from Schneib.
And it's not like I care; I'm perfectly willing to watch a weenie roast over the remains of their country after they make a wrong move with a nuclear weapon. I'm not so sure they'd be good with it, though.

If the UK requires visas to be issued by personal application in Iran (I beleive that to be the case) - will hit Iran very hard (no Embassy = No visaSchneibster wrote:The UK has announced it is expelling all Iranian diplomats from its soil effective immediately in response to the storming of its embassy in Tehran. I would also demolish the Embassy Buildings and then sell the land. with a view to only going back as part of an EU Embassy. Apart from the Ambassador, it's the 21st Century doesn't need to actually be in Iran.

We could use the Embassy Building for SAS training.Jesus_of_Nazareth wrote:If the UK requires visas to be issued by personal application in Iran (I beleive that to be the case) - will hit Iran very hard (no Embassy = No visaSchneibster wrote:The UK has announced it is expelling all Iranian diplomats from its soil effective immediately in response to the storming of its embassy in Tehran. I think it would be a shame, they got a lotta neat culture and stuff. But they appear to have nutjobs in charge.
Typically, it appears to be the military.
