Toomey on Tuesday: “What happened that brought about the massive budget deficits and the mounting debt that caused this committee to come into being, was, fundamentally, a spending spree. Remember, it’s been this sequence of stimulus bills, and bailouts, and government takeovers—a huge surge in discretionary spending.”
What happened that brought about the massive budget deficits was off-budget Iraq and the unfunded Medicare Part D prescription drug benefit and the unfunded Bush tax cuts, and I can produce charts that prove it.
Arguably. You can produce charts that argue the opposite.
Schneibster wrote: That, right there, is Toomey lying.
Toomey doesn't think your charts are correct.

Your source ain't required dogma. People who hold the opposite view aren't lying, and your source is not unnaissailable, in arguable or unfalsifiable. He thinks you're wrong. You think he's wrong. Have at it.

That's not lying, dude. That's "holding a different opinion." And, holding a different opinion, even as a minority of one, even against the overwhelming weight of the evidence, is not a lie.

Cunt isn't drunk. Instead, I am just laughing about how you say that cranks don't post science articles. Not only do they do that, they also conflate correlation and causation.
I'm convinced that many people are confused about the definition of the word "conflate."
I wonder if you mean me...?

I think Schneibster conflates correlation and causation because of his leap. He saw that there was a high number of tested individuals who were diagnosed psychopathic and had a physical brain anomoly. He went on to suggest that finding this brain anomoly would indicate that someone was a psychopath. I

To me, that was mashing together the correlative relationship with a causal one. If he really was confused about the differences in meaning, they were conflated. If he deliberately mixed the two meanings, they were conflated.

Have I got it wrong?

I was picking nits, and kidding around. Upon reflection, it wasn't funny though...

Conflate means to combine two ideas into one, like "to conflate dissenting voices into one protest." Or, two versions of the the Creation story were "conflated" into one to form the Book of Genesis.

I'm with the majority. And the majority do.
That's not what determines whether someone is actually lying.

The majority of Americans think Obama is doing a bad job. Is he?
"Doing a bad job" is not a question of integrity. Lying is. And in questions of integrity, we require (ultimately) the vote of twelve jurors to determine what we will call "truth." So, yes, that's indeed how we determine whether someone is actually lying, and you of all people should know it.

And as far as whether Obama's doing a bad job, I have to say that if most people think he is then he probably is. I think so.
A jury's determination of guilt or innocence, or liability or non-liability is not a determination of truth, but of probability.
That's the most we ever know of "truth."

OK:

"regulations are good for business" Killing customers is bad for business, can we agree on that? And regulations prevent businesses from making dangerous products. With me so far?
The best you've done is come up with a fairly weak and juvenile argument for why some regulations might be good.
Here's another reason, and I got plenty more: we got rid of the regulations and the banksters stole everything and fucked the economy. Is that good for business? I'm going with "no." Need more?

"The best you've done" is a lie.
We got rid of some regulations, but added others. Is that good for business? Maybe, maybe not. That's a matter of opinion.
No, it's a matter of fact.

There was a financial crisis, and that has led to a recession, the worst since the Great Depression, and there is still high unemployment threatening another dip in the economy creating a double-dip recession, and there is now a financial crisis in Europe that is likely a result of the original financial crisis as well.

The original financial crisis was caused by deregulation of investment banking, and resulting irresponsible behavior by investment bankers.

Every bit of that is fact; and you're denying it.

You are transparent as glass with your "that's a matter of opinion" chickenshit.

Come the fuck on, dude. Really? You don't get it?
Of course I "get it." I can see more lies being cranked out every day.

"Russia is in my front yard."
"I never diddled any little kids in the Congressional Page Program."
"HPV vaccines cause brain damage."
"Obama is a Muslim."
"Unions are evil."
"Gays are evil."
"Guns are good."

What's to get?
Who said those things?

That's my post, from yesterday, a science article from a major science journalism site on the 'Net. Precisely what I claimed.

It says this study is merely the latest in a series, and conclusions are drawn based on data from those earlier studies, combined with the current one under discussion here. You appear not to have read it since you're talking about correlation and causation.

Duh.

Bring it, any time.

The anti-psychology cranks are generally Scientologists.

Sorry, I'm not "down with" a "religion" that claims the space aliens taking over peoples' minds. In fact, it sounds just as psychotic as claiming there's a super magic sky daddy who's addicted to chickenshit. Or that the psychologists want to force therapy on everyone.
